State of the Art Facilities

Sanford Health is changing the way sports and health care unite.  The Sanford Sports Complex, located in Sioux Falls, SD, provides comprehensive and innovative training resources all on one state of the art sports campus. We call it home.

Our teams practice and play out of the SCHEELS IcePlex, which opened in October 2014 and features three sheets of ice, and train off-ice approximately 200 yards away at the Sanford Fieldhouse under the direction of Sanford POWER training.

Elite ice hockey Player Development

With priorities placed on practice hours, skill development, consistent off-ice training, and weekly video sessions, Sioux Falls POWER is not only a program where players play an elite schedule with ample exposure, but truly develop every aspect of their game as hockey players from beginning of the season to the end.

The Sioux Falls POWER program has been represented at the USA Hockey National tournament each year since its inception in 2014.

Expert Off Ice Training

Players train off-ice at the state of the art Sanford Fieldhouse under the direction of Sanford POWER director & long time University of Wisconsin associate director of sports conditioning, Scott Hettenbach.

Sanford POWER trainers use the latest in research and technology to provide sports and activity-specific training that incorporates strength development, speed, agility, plyometrics and explosive power. Players also perform yoga, cycling, receive nutritional guidance, and participate in team video sessions.

Excellence in Academics

The Sioux Falls POWER believes in the importance of a great education at the same time your player is pursuing his dreams of playing hockey at a higher level.  We are blessed to have wonderful schools, both public and private, in Sioux Falls.  If you are selected to be a Sioux Falls POWER team member, you are required to carry a minimum of a 2.5 GPA every semester.

We strongly believe that academics and time management should be a high priority as these skills you will carry with you into your adult life.  As a POWER player, you may attend one of the following schools:

Some Sioux Falls POWER athletes choose to complete their schooling through an online or remote education program during the season. Families who select this option are responsible for independently enrolling their student-athlete in an accredited online school of their choice.

Players utilizing online schooling may choose to meet together at the library or another public workspace to complete their schoolwork, however this is done independently by the families and players.
