Sam Spehar (’07) will participate in the NTDP’s 2023 Evaluation Camp March 19th-22nd in Plymouth, Michigan. He will be competing for a roster spot on the 23’-24’ U17 NTDP team

Sioux Falls, SD - Sam Spehar (’07) will participate in the NTDP’s 2023 Evaluation Camp March 19th-22nd in Plymouth, Michigan. He will be competing for a roster spot on the 23’-24’ U17 NTDP team.

Spehar, a native of Chaska, MN, led the Power 16U team in all statistical categories this season with 32G and 39A in 48 GP. The last underage player to accomplish this was *Jayden Perron (‘05) during the 20’-21’ season.

“Sam’s personal character and willingness to challenge himself; along with his desire to be an elite hockey player, is why he is of consideration for the NTDP. We are grateful for all that Sam has contributed to our program and are proud he is a representative of Sioux Falls POWER,” said head coach, Noelle Needham.

Spehar is the second POWER player to be invited to the USA Hockey NTDP Evaluation camp. This camp contains the top 45 players at the U17 birth year in the United States. The team chosen from the camp will compete in a variety of leagues and events around the world including the USHL, NAHL, and numerous IIHF events.

The Sioux Falls POWER Tier 1 hockey program is based out of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, with teams competing at the 13U, 14U, 15o, 16U and 18U levels.

*Jayden Perron (’05) is a USHL Tender of the Chicago Steel, University of North Dakota commit, and is projected as a first round selection in the 2023 NHL Draft.
